H. Khekiho Zhimomi was an active politician and a sitting member of Nagaland People's Front. He won the 2003 elections and was elected in the Legislative Assembly from the Ghaspani-I constituency.
H. Khekiho Zhimomi was an active politician and a sitting member of Nagaland People's Front. He won the 2003 elections and was elected in the Legislative Assembly from the Ghaspani-I constituency. Khekiho was first chosen from the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1989. Subsequently in 1990, he was appointed in the Nagaland's People's Council Government as an Industry and Commerce Cabinet Minister. He represented his state in the Rajya Sabha from July 2008 to April 2010 and further in April 2010 till his death. He emerged as an active social worker and a strong and successful industrialist during his lifetime.
He married the financial director of Zhimomi Group of Industries, Khezheli Zhimomi, and the couple was blessed with 2 sons and 7 daughters. They have a total of 8 grandchildren as well. Rebecca, Tokali, Annalia and Elika are his four younger daughters out of which Elika studied in the DY Patil Mumbai College and graduated in the year 2011. Tokali finished her college from James Cook Singapore and went on to become the CEO of her mother's company. While the elder Sukhali, Atomy, Irene and Anato are blessed in the holy matrimony. Anato is a director in the family venture while Atomy grew on to become the youngest MLA from Nagaland. His eldest daughter is married to Nephiu Rio, ex Nagaland CM.
As the chairman of ZGI, Khekiho was responsible for the companies services like export import, construction, telecommunication, NE Food processing unit, reliance petrol, RC Cola production, packaged drinking water, Tata Automobile and timber production. He even visited Myanmar's insurgent groups with Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor, to sign a peace pact.
Zhimomi had serious heart ailments from a very long time. He was admitted to South Delhi's hospital AIIMS, a couple of days before his death. On 26th November 2015, he breathed his last after suffering from a stroke. He was 69 years old. His last rites were said to be performed in Nagaland. Ministers Jitender Singh, Venkaiah Naidu and Kiren Rijiju visited the hospital to pay homage to Zhimomi.

Posthumously, the Rajya Sabha's Winter Session was adjourned on it's first day as a mark of utmost respect to the MP.
